Cross-Cultural Dialogue
Whether its New York or Oakland, San Rafael or Santiago, our mission is to encourage youth to reach across cultural boundaries and learn from each other by participating in our cross-cultural dialogues. In addition, these dialogues will build relationships among the participants and strengthen communication skills. The focus of the dialogues will derive from the theme of the applicable program (American Mosaic, Human Rights: Small Planet Project, or Ecology in a Changing World). We want participants to develop a global perspective on contemporary issues and make connections between their international experience and the home communities they will be returning to.
ecological excursions
Participants in Education without Borders International Costa Rican based programs will have the opportunity to explore the natural world. Guanacaste’s Bird Island and Isla Chira, the volcanoes and rain forests of Monteverde, and the beaches along the Pacific Coast are all a part of Costa Rica’s vibrant ecosystem. Participants will live at La Vida del Corazon ranch, a rural setting in the Guanacaste Mountains. In close proximity is abundant wild life, an array of local farms, the Nicoya Peninsula and the Pacific Ocean. At the ranch participants will eat fresh organic foods, harvested locally, and even explore the natural terrain on horseback.

Education without Borders International was conceived and is operated by professional educators who understand the enormous value of experiential learning outside the classroom. Our expertise is in connecting hands-on activities that engage young people to relevant core high school curricula. The skills developed through our various program components (language immersion, community service projects, cross-cultural dialogues, and ecological excursions) will benefit participants when they return to the traditional classroom.
