Connecting Pan American Communities
Through Digital Storytelling and Web based Networking
(Curriculum Development)

Project Description:

The Bio-Diesel Diaries is a 5-month journey through grass roots community efforts in Latin America.  As journalists, educators, and artists, we will document and unite communities between the United States and Chile.  Through digital storytelling (photo, sound and video) we will highlight the stories of community artists, non-profit organizations, activists; thus awakening the connections between our cultures, struggles and traditions.  We will use the Internet as a means of not only publishing the stories of the people living in these communities, but as a tool to open communication between communities isolated from one another.  In addition we will help them keep the dialogue alive by giving them the skills to interface with one another.

Purpose:

Who we are is deeply connected to where we come from.  When we lose the connection to our roots, our growth or progress is limited.  Education Without Borders Intl. is initiating the Bio-Diesel Diaries to connect the art, traditions and struggles of the Americas, build stronger international relations, empower grass roots communities, and unite Latinos and others around our common human struggles and create cross-cultural/transnational dialogues.

While highlighting the cultures and traditions of the Americas, the true power of our Latin American community is in the hands of the youth.  Our purpose is to empower, educate and connect youth across the Americas.  Education Without Borders Intl. seeks to break the limitations of provincial boundaries and the mental boundaries they create by uniting youth with the rich cultural expressions of the Americas and the struggles they face and their success stories.
